Sex Pistols' infamous 1978 US tour to be immortalised on three live albums
The band's final shows before their split
A trio of Sex Pistols live albums are being unleashed for the first time this spring that capture the anarchic band on their infamous 1978 US tour.
Titled ‘Live in the USA 1978’, the three albums are released on individual coloured vinyl, as a 3CD set and digitally, and they’re available to pre-order from Sex Pistols’ official website now.
Showcasing the band in their raw and spitting glory shortly before their implosion, the three performances span a nine-day period in January 1978.
Released on Friday 28th February 2025, the red vinyl LP was recorded at Great South East Music Hall in Atlanta on 5th January 1978.
A white vinyl LP follows on Friday 28th March 2025 that immortalises the band’s gig at Longhorns Ballroom in Dallas on 10th January.
Completing the set on blue vinyl on Friday 25th April 2025 is Sex Pistols’ final concert before their 1996 reunion, at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom on 14th January 1978. The 3CD and digital sets are both released on the same day.

The 3CD set
The newly mastered recordings put the listener right amongst the sweating, bellowing crowd. “Aren’t we the worst thing you’ve ever seen?” asks John Lydon / Johnny Rotten.
After the band crashed through The Stooges’ ‘No Fun’ in San Francisco, Rotten challenged the crowd directly: “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?”
Within days, he announced his departure and the Sex Pistols explosion, detonated in the turmoil of the late 1970s, was over. These primal recordings document the final shockwaves of a band that changed pop culture forever.
