Saxon's Biff Byford confirms debut solo album 'School of Hard Knocks'
Saxon frontman Biff Byford has confirmed his debut solo album 'School of Hard Knocks' will be released in early 2020.
The vocalist, who recently underwent an emergency triple bypass operation on his heart, posted a video message to fans last week giving an update on his health and also revealing that Saxon had officially commenced work on their 23rd studio album.
In a second video message, Biff has now confirmed that his debut album is entitled ‘School of Hard Knocks’ and it will be preceded by two singles in 2019.
“My solo album is coming out at the beginning of 2020,” says Biff. “I’ve got two singles coming out this year, the first is called Welcome To The Show, and the second is the title track to the album – School Of Hard Knocks.
“The first single comes out on October 25 and that’s a digital release.”
Biff added that the album title track will be released on Friday 13th December.
Biff previously revealed in September 2018 that he’d completed all the music for his solo album and was currently working on the lyrics.
Describing the musical direction, Biff said: “It's going to be quite a diverse album, a bit like the last Saxon one, I suppose, but probably a bit more rock n' roll, a bit more mid-tempo.”
Last month Saxon announced the postponement of all their 2019 shows, including their trio of UK concerts, as Biff an immediate surgery on his heart.
All three October UK dates have now been rearranged for March 2020 with the planned Glasgow date moving from the Braehead Arena to Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
Saxon’s upcoming tour dates are as follows:
MARCH 2020
Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom – Fri 27th
London Eventim Apollo – Sat 28th
Manchester O2 Apollo – Sun 29th
