Saxon are currently working on their next studio album, but have admitted they are in no hurry to have it released.

"We are effectively producing ourselves. But it will be mixed by Andy Sneap" said frontman Biff Byford.

The band are set to release the CD/DVD set Saxon – Heavy Metal Thunder: Live Eagles Over Wacken on April 23. The compilation contains highlights from the band’s performances at the Wacken Festival in 2004, 2007 and 2009, plus a live CD recorded in Glasgow last year.

Saxon will be supporting Judas Priest at Hammersmith Apollo on May 26, and will be playing on the main stage at Download Festival on June 9.

"We’ve got quite a lot of festivals lined up for the summer in Europe. We might record one or two of these" stated Byford.
