Santana Goes Back To Woodstock
Guitarist returns to the scene of his greatest triumph
Santana has played a show at the site of his finest hour in Bethel, New York.
The guitarist returned for the first time since 1969 to play at the site where Woodstock took place to play a headline show as part of his North American tour.
Rolling Stone reports that Carlos Santana took a tour of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which now stands on the site where the original stage stood. He apparently took some time to talk to fans and watched a few minutes of his 1969 performance in the screening room at the museum.
"Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Sly Stone," he told the audience during the show. "All of us who were here remember the magic. Only love can conquer hate. This is Woodstock. This is the place where miracles can happen."
Santana played tracks from his forthcoming covers album, Guitar Heaven, which is released in late September.
