Hagar tackled David Gilmour's fabled guitar solo
Former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar and Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson performed a cover of Pink Floyd’s seminal song ‘Comfortably Numb’ over the weekend.
The two rock icons teamed up at Alice Cooper’s 21st Annual Christmas Pudding concert at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday night (9th December).
The charity concert is held annually to benefit Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers in Phoenix and Mesa, which provide teenagers with free vocational training in sound and recording, lighting and staging, and video production.
Sammy Hagar joined Nancy Wilson on the rotating stage at the Celebrity Theatre to share vocals on ‘Comfortably Numb’ and tackle David Gilmour’s fabled guitar solo. Their backing band for the performance was Nashville's Sixwire.
Sharing a video of the performance afterwards, Sammy Hagar wrote alongside the hashtag #goosebumps: “Last night was the first time I’ve ever played that solo on one of my favourite songs of all time.
“Nancy Wilson thank you for letting me sit in with you and for bringing those sweet harmonies.”

The Christmas Pudding concert also saw Alice Cooper play a seven-song headline set including a cover of ‘Run Rudolph Run’.
Nancy Wilson also performed Heart’s ‘These Dreams’ and ‘Even It Up’, while Sammy Hagar played his own four-song set including Van Halen’s Finish What Ya Started.
Earlier in the night, Quiet Riot took to the stage and played their Slade covers ‘Cum On Feel the Noize’ and ‘Mama Weer All Crazee Now’ alongside ‘The Wild and the Young’ and ‘Metal Health (Bang Your Head).’
