The documentary film takes Rush aficionados behind the scenes on their 40th anniversary R40 tour in 2015, which ultimately proved to be their swansong trek.

It features exclusive song performances, unreleased soundcheck and backstage footage, and new interviews with producer Nick Raskulinecz and Rush fans including Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.

Alongside the tour content, fans are also promised a glimpse into the “madness and passion” that went into the making of Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass, while the film also features a brand-new interview with the Rush vocalist, bassist and keyboardist.

Lee enthuses: “I’m excited for fans to see some new clips from our R40 tour but also a peek behind the scenes of making the Big Beautiful Book Of Bass.”

Rush wrote on Facebook: “On August 21, Anthem/Trafalgar will bring the first annual “Cinema Strangiato” to the big screen in movie theaters worldwide for one night only. This theatrical film experience will bring Rush fans together for a special look into R40 Live, see new backstage footage, special guests, and performances that you won’t want to miss.”

Trafalgar Releasing senior vice president for acquisitions, Kymberli Frueh, said: "Trafalgar Releasing is thrilled to bring 'Rush: Cinema Strangiato 2019' to theatres around the globe for the first of what we're hoping will become an annual event — bringing fans together to experience a celebration of one of the world's most popular rock bands."

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 20th June. For more information head to the official Cinema Strangiato website.
