Rolling Stones Rock L.A.
Planet Rock's own Bernard Doherty was at the Staples Center to see the legends light up the stage once more! Read his review here....
On stage, the legendary band is lean, hungry and unsentimental, rocking with more swagger than any of the young pretenders playing onstage anywhere else on the planet right now.
Friday's kick off of the ‘50 and Counting tour’ at Staples Center served as a stark reminder of the band's undimmed powers, their admirable commitment to roots, the enduring appeal of the music, the magical chemistry and the reason they still hold claim to the title of "world's greatest rock 'n' roll band."
Tonight, The Rolling Stones earned every one of their numerous accolades, and then some.Â
Performing 23 songs over 2 1/2 hours before an all-ages capacity crowd, the Stones simply ripped the joint. The show, with its enormous tongue-logo stage and backdrop of inventive videos, triumphs as art and entertainment worked the crowd throughout. But at its core the camaraderie of Watts, Jagger, Richards and Wood made the night one to truly savour.
