As part of their ongoing 50th Anniversary Celebrations, The Rolling Stones have unveiled their first ever iPhone app.

Released exclusive to Apple, the app features band interviews, videos and photos, along with a paid-for section where fans can unlock exclusive specially shot content. It will later add a feature that will allow fans to vote for which songs the band play at a concert.

Embracing social media, the app also allows the user to connect with fellow fans, as well as the band themselves. Users can also preview tracks for free, buy official merchandise and any song from the Rolling Stones' iTunes store.

Singer Mick Jagger said: "we wanted to do something a bit special and innovative – an app that really connects with the user, lots of exclusive content, integration with social networks and the ability to make a song request for the upcoming shows."

Guitarist Keith Richards added that there will be "quite a few surprises in there for the fans; some behind the scenes footage; some old, some new stuff that very few people get to see. It's all part of a rather splendid celebration for us."
