During a break between songs at the world-famous 20,000 capacity New York venue, Daltrey slammed the group of gig-goers at the front claiming the cannabis smoke had had an adverse effect on his voice.

“I'm got to tell you, all the ones smoking grass down in the front there, I’m totally allergic to it,” Daltrey shouted to the crowd.

He continued: “I’m not kidding, whoever it is down there, you fcked my night and you made me really… I’m allergic to that sht and my voice just goes (makes noise with voice). It sucks up. So f*ck you!”

It’s not the first time Daltrey has hit out at weed smokers in New York. At the Nassau Coliseum almost exactly four years ago he scolded an audience member when smoke entered the stage.

In their review of the concert at the time, Newsday said "the smoke’s impact was almost immediate on his voice, which went from crystal clear and potent for the opening ‘I Can’t Explain’ to something rougher and more limited during ‘I Can See for Miles.'”

Don’t forget, The Who play a gargantuan show at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday 6th July 2019 with support from Eddie Vedder.

Part of the band’s MOVING ON! tour, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and co. will be joined by an orchestra at the special concert. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
