Roger Daltrey Hints at New Who Album

Roger Daltrey has recently hinted at the possibility of a new Who album in the pipeline to help mark 50 years since the band started. The Who last released an album in 2006, ‘Endless Wire’, and a new album would be the band’s 12th.

Being as nonchalant as ever, Daltrey said in an interview that "Pete's got hundreds of songs so the only question is whether we get around to it, but he wants to make an album and I'm always ready and raring to go. We'll see. I never know what I'm doing next, it's about what comes through my letterbox tomorrow, but I don't see why we wouldn't. My voice is still in good shape. The hearing isn't so great, but the voice is fine."

Daltrey has also recently recorded an album with Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson. He says of the new LP that “it's a great record, really good songs, and it was fabulous making it, so refreshing. It's going back to what I did in the early 60s with fast, three-minute R&B songs. No bullshit, just good songs."

You can see the pair perform songs from the album, which is released March 10th, at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on the 25th of February. Daltrey has also hinted that he and Wilko could play a support slot at one of the annual Teenage Cancer Trust gigs that he curates, at the Royal Albert Hall at the end of March, as long as Wilko is up to it.
