Roger Daltrey Confirms Keith Moon Olympics Invite
The Who frontman reveals that the drummer DID get asked to play
Last month The Who's manager Bill Curbishley revealed that he had received a letter from Olympic organisers asking if the late drummer, Keith Moon, would like to play some part in the Olympic ceremony.
NME reports that in an interview on US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week, the frontman joked that the band's management had responded to the invitation by suggesting they try contacting the deceased rocker themselves by holding a séance.
He joked: "It could only happen in Britain. We are so organised. We got a letter – well, an email – requesting could Keith Moon attend the opening ceremony."
He then added: "Our manager sent an email back saying, 'Well actually he currently resides at Golders Green Crematorium, where he's been for the last 34 years. But maybe if you got a round table, some candles and some glasses, you might be able to get him back through a séance."
