Rod Stewart Talks Faces Reunion
He says it\'s still a possibility but not while Ronnie\'s with the Stones
The Faces frontman has revealed that the reason why he is so reticent about joining up with his former bandmates for some live dates is due to the uncertainty over the future of the Rolling Stones.
"It's time schedules. If Woody was to say 'the Stones are finished, they're not gonna do any more tours' then I could say well let me get my stuff out of the way and then we could think about it. But as long as Mick could call him up and say 'we're gonna tour next year' then we can't plan anything."
Meanwhile, in an interview with Planet Rock yesterday Faces keyboard player Ian McLagan said that Stewart turned down an opportunity to watch his friends play as the Faces with Mick Hucknell on lead vocals.
"Rod sent a really sweet email to Ronnie and Kenny and I before the gig at the Cornbury festival, cos Ronnie had invited him down. He said it would be a bit like going to an ex-girlfriend's wedding. And I get that. He couldn't just come without singing."
The current line-up of the Faces featuring Hucknall on vocals and Sex Pistol Glen Matlock on bass have played a couple of UK dates this year, with the most recent show last weekend at Hurtwood Park. They will be jetting off to Japan this week to play at the Fuji Rock Festival on Saturday.
