Rockers Given Afro-Cuban Twist For Haiti
U2, Dylan and Green Day appear on new charity record
Artists such as U2, Bob Dylan and Green Day appear on a new charity album in aid of the Haitian disaster relief fund.
The new album is released by Artists Project Earth (APE) and features classic songs and covers by some big artists which have been given an Afro-Cuban twist by Cuban-based band Rhythms Del Mundo. It was put together in less than two weeks and the organiser, Kenny Young, says
"All these great artists have given up their time to be part of an album that will raise money to help people in Haiti who are suffering the devastating effects of the earthquake. Now please do your bit to help: Buy the album!”
The new album, which is called Rhythms Del Mundo: Haiti, sees U2 tackle Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’, Green Day covering ‘I Fought The Law’ and a rendition of ‘A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall’ from Dylan.
You can pay as much or as little for the download only album as you like, but this being a charity record the emphasis is on the "much”.
