The Rock The Lakes festival was due to take place in Southport on 17-19 August and it was due to feature a mixture of top tribute and local acts.

However, the festival organisers have revealed on their official website that the West Lancashire District Council Licensing Sub Committee granted a license on the basis that the festival could only play "country and western music".

Condition B of their granting of a license read said "That there will be a maximum of three events per calendar year (each event shall be a maximum of 4 days) and these events will be limited to Country & Western music and re-enactment functions"

As a result, the rock music festival now cannot go ahead as planned.
