Rock Fares Badly At Grammy Nominations

The Foos bag multiple nods but there is a noticeable scarcity of rock acts in nominations list

Published 1st Dec 2011

The Foos have a remarkable seven nominations at the Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, Best Rock Performance (for 'Walk'), Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance (for 'White Limo'), Best Rock Song (again for 'Walk'), Best Rock Album and Best Long Form Music Video for their film Back And Forth, while producer Butch Vig is nominated for the Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical.

Elsewhere there is barely a rock act to be seen - even in the rock categories (Coldplay and Mumford & Sons are for some reason given a couple of rock nominations each)

Dream Theater, Megadeth and Mastodon are nominated in the Best Rock / Metal Performance category along with the Foos, while Kings Of Leon have two nominations.

The Grammy's love affair with Jeff Beck continues with the legendary guitarist picking up a single nomination for Best Rock Album for his Rock N Roll Party Honoring Les Paul.

And the Chili Peppers get a single nomination for their I'm With You album.

But that's about it for rock at the Grammys this year.
