Rock Disappears From Charts
Rock singles all but invisible from charts
Rock has all but disappeared from mainstream music singles charts in the past 12 months, according to new research.
Figures released by the Official Charts Company reveal that the sales of what they classify as rock singles have dropped by 18% in the past 12 months, while Urban and Pop have increased by 33% and 30% respectively.
Just five of the top one hundred top selling singles of the year are classified as rock, with Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing amongst them (thanks largely to the TV show Glee).
