Robin McAuley is being treated aggressively with targeted antibiotics in hospital
Robin McAuley's wife Gina has given an update on his condition after he was hospitalised with sepsis.
The eminent Irish rock singer was hospitalised on Sunday (5th January) after unexpectedly becoming ill shortly before Michael Schenker Fest were due to travel to the 7000 Tons of Metal Cruise in Florida.
McAuley’s wife Gina said on Tuesday an “undetected bacterial infection” had “entered his bloodstream” and he was in a “critical, but stable condition.”
The following day, 70000 Tons Of Metal issued a statement confirming McAuley won’t be performing at the event and he had been rushed to hospital with sepsis.
Revealing more details about her husband’s health, Gina McAuley wrote on Facebook on Wednesday that he’s making “great progress” after the type of bacteria causing the sepsis was successfully identified.
She explained: “We just found out that Toxicology identified the bacteria in Robin McAuley blood (Sepsis) as e-Coli.
“He will now be treated aggressively with targeted antibiotics. He will remain at the hospital until the infectious disease control department clears his blood as “clean”. This is great progress!!
“Robin and I are very grateful for all the well wishes and prayers.”
Robin McAuley has released three studio albums with McAuley Schenker Group (1987’s ‘Perfect Timing’, 1989’s ‘Save Yourself’ and 1992’s ‘M.S.G.’).
More recently he lent his vocals to Michael Schenker Fest’s 2018 album ‘Resurrection’ and last year’s ‘Revelation’.
Actively touring with Michael Schenker Fest, McAuley is due to play four UK shows in April 2020 which celebrate Schenker’s 50th anniversary in music.
The Revelation Tour calls in at Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Leeds and London and features Schenker and McAuley alongside Gary Barden and Doogie White plus bassist Chris Glen, guitarist/keyboardist Steve Mann and drummer Bodo Schopf.
McAuley has also performed with Grand Prix, Survivor and Far Corporation and in 1999 released is solo album ‘Business As Usual’.
He has also recently formed the band Black Swan alongside guitarist Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake), bassist Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, The End Machine, ex-Dokken), and drummer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big). They release their debut album 'Shake The World' via Frontiers Music Srl on Friday 14th February.
