Robert Plant to perform with violinist Nigel Kennedy at London’s Royal Albert Hall
Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant will join violinist Nigel Kennedy for a one-off show at London’s Royal Albert Hall next month.
Taking place on Tuesday 14th March, the Nigel Kennedy and Friends: Gala Celebration is part of the inaugural Love Classical festival at the world-famous London venue.
Enthusing about Plant’s addition to the line-up, Kennedy said: “This is shaping up to be an amazing concert. Planty is a genuine rock legend and a true musical trailblazer.
“He’s always pushing and challenging himself and immersing himself in music. When we work together it’s a combination of power and creativity.”
Lucy Noble, Artistic Director at the Royal Albert Hall, added: “We’re incredibly excited to be announcing this amazing collaboration between one of Britain’s greatest rock legends and a violinist who has spent his career pushing the boundaries of his art, creating incredible music that breaks down the boundaries between genres.”
It’s currently unclear what song or songs Plant and Kennedy will be joining forces on, however, the evening has been described as highly eclectic with the violinist performing a repertoire that spans from Johann Sebastian Bach to Jimi Hendrix.
Robert Plant performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969 and 1970 with Led Zeppelin and has since played as a solo artist. He first worked with Kennedy on the track ‘Calling to You’ from his 1993 ‘Fate Of Nations’ album.
