Robert Plant shares poignant photo visiting John Bonham's statue
Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant has shared a moving photo of himself visiting John Bonham’s statue in Redditch.
Taken by Gil Richards, the highly poignant image captures Plant looking on at his late Led Zeppelin band mate's statue at night time. Candles are also placed on the stones surrounding the sculpture, that are a nod to Giant's Causeway on the 'Houses of the Holy' artwork.
Percy captioned the image: “Another birthday around the corner... huge loss...”

Created by sculptor Mark Richards and situated at Mercian Square in Redditch town centre, the John Bonham memorial sculpture was unveiled on 31st May last year – what would have been Bonzo’s 70th birthday.
Made out of bronze and weighing a whopping 2.5 tonnes, it depicts Bonham in live action behind the drum kit and features his ‘Led Zeppelin IV’ symbol of three interlocking rings along with the date of his birth and death.
Alongside the aforementioned stones, the impressive statue also features zeppelin airships and the words: “The most outstanding and original drummer of his time, John Bonham’s popularity and influence continue to resonate with the world of music and beyond.”
Redditch Borough Council gave the green light for the statue to be built at a planning meeting in October 2017.
Supported by the Bonham family as well as Warner Music Group, John’s sister Deborah attended the meeting where she told councillors that necessary funds had been raised for the memorial and any money left over will fund Teenage Cancer Trust nurses in Redditch.

Plant also opened up about how Pink Floyd’s one-off show at Live 8 in 2005 was an inspiration for Led Zeppelin’s own swansong concert two years later.
