Robert Plant wouldn’t want to do Led Zeppelin ‘a disservice’ by reforming
Robert Plant has yet again been asked about the possibility of working with Led Zeppelin.
During an interview with Louisville, Kentucky radio station 91.9 WFPK, Percy was asked if he could ever see himself joining musical forces with Jimmy Page again.
“"I have no idea," he responded to host Kyle Meredith. “It's not even within my countenance to imagine it, really."
When the DJ alluded to the fact that Led Zeppelin are still "near and dear to the hearts" of their millions of fans, Robert responded: “"Me too - nobody more than me. But I don't want to do it a disservice either."
The three surviving members of Led Zeppelin last performed together at the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert at London’s The O2 Arena in December 2007.
Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones are currently collaborating with Reel Art Press on a lavish illustrated book that will celebrate 50 years since the formation of the group.
Speaking to the Academy of Achievement in December, Jimmy confirmed that Led Zeppelin’s half-Century milestone will be marked with “all manner of surprises.”
“There will be a Led Zeppelin product coming out for sure that people haven’t heard,” Jimmy said.
“I’m working on that and next year will be the 50th year, so there’s all manner of surprises coming out – and then I hope to be seen to be playing, so I better get on with it!”
In October, Redditch Borough Council gave the green light for a John Bonham memorial to be built in the late Led Zeppelin legend’s home town as part of the band’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The 2.5 tonnes bronze sculpture will be situated in Mercian Square next to Redditch market and it’s expected to be launched to coincide with what would have been Bonzo’s 70th birthday on 31st May 2018.
