Robert Plant Plays Secret Show

Percy launches new album with intimate showcase in London

Robert Plant launched his brand new album, Band Of Joy, with a secret show in London last night and our very own Liz Barnes was there to see it.

Robert Plant took centre stage in church last night, at a rare intimate gig in London. He and his band, including Buddy Miller and country siren Patty Griffin, performed eight tracks from his forthcoming ‘Band of Joy’ at a converted chapel in Mayfair. The atmospheric setting was a perfect backdrop for the new material and Plant looked at ease as he gave the crowd a taste of what to expect from his forthcoming UK tour which begins in London tonight. With his voice on fine form, the spectacular venue acoustics gave the show a near reverential feel. A fact not lost on Plant himself who bid goodnight to his crowd while making reference to the evening’s proceedings in what he described as "one of the Houses of the Holy”. A wry smile followed his nod to past triumphs, confirming that while the voice is still intact, that unmistakable Plant charm is too.
