Ritchie Blackmore being sued for £100,000 by record label
Ritchie Blackmore is facing a lawsuit over alleged cancellations of interviews.
The Deep Purple and Rainbow legend is being sued by his record label for allegedly not promoting the latest Blackmore's Night album enough.
According to a report in the New York Post, Italy-based imprint Frontiers Records are unhappy with the promotional activities surrounding 2015’s ‘All Our Yesterdays’.
A lawsuit filed at a Manhattan Federal Court claims that Blackmore failed to partake in “dozens of media appearances and interviews” including six TV stations and ’25 to 30’ tabloids in Germany.
Blackmore’s three-year deal with Frontiers Records reportedly stipulates they will distribute the album on the provision Blackmore made “reasonable best efforts” to promote it.
The label are seeking minimum damages of $150,000 to recoup some of the $220,000 advance they paid back.
Blackmore’s representatives have slammed the accusations as “ludicrous.”
