Ripped Ziggy Stardust Shirt To Be Shown At Exhibition
The rare piece of Bowie memorabilia will be on display at Buckinghamshire County Museum.
The exhibition is being held in honour of the historic British music venue Aylesbury Friars from Monday March 1st.
“The Evolution of Friars” will feature posters, original photographs, paraphernalia from Friars’ archives, musical instruments and equipment used by some of the most prestigious names to pass through Friars’ doors; including David Bowie, Lou Reed, Genesis, The Ramones, Talking Heads, The Clash, Roxy Music and Queen.
The ripped Ziggy Stardust shirt was worn by Bowie when he performed at the venue on January 29th 1972; the first time he performed live as the character.
David Stopps, who founded Aylesbury Friars in 1969 enthused: “I have been hoping to present a major exhibition at Friar’s for years, it’s finally going to happen. It’s a huge undertaking.”
