REVIEW: Aerosmith At The O2

Planet Rock there to see the Boston rockers conquer the O2 last night

Break-ups and make-ups are the topic of many a rock anthem, but last night Aerosmith proved they can do it all better than most. Two days after an astonishing headline set at the Download Festival, Boston’s finest once more bombarded a sell-out audience with two hours of pure rock and blues heaven. With his trademark runway jutting out into the crowd, Steven Tyler worked that familiar magic from the very first note. A blur of tie-dyed scarves and sequins, he primped, preened and let rip with those vocal unmistakeable chords which still pack an almighty punch.

Armed with a set list to please die-hard and fair-weather fans alike, Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry put any hint of last year’s rumoured rift firmly behind them. The chemistry was back in spades and with the rest of the band following suit, highlights included a fierce ‘Train Kept A Rollin’’and a flawless version of ‘Sweet Emotion’. A shame their British jaunt was so short this time but knowing Aerosmith, the show is far from over
