Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis hospitalised with intestinal flu
The band release a statement after the singer took ill over the weekend.
Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis was rushed to hospital with extreme stomach pain shortly before the band were set to play a show in Irvine, California on Saturday night (14th May).
Bassist Flea broke the news to the 16,000 strong Meadows Amphitheatre crowd, saying: “Anthony is on his way to the hospital right now and we're unable to play for you this evening.
“We are devastated about it. We’re really sad, we love you so much. We live to rock. We live to f***ing dig deep into the depths of our heart and rock. But unfortunately, there’s a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it.”
Now, the Chili Peppers have released a short statement confirming Anthony is suffering from intestinal flu and they are axing a further show on Tuesday night.
It reads: “Due to Anthony Kiedis' hospitalisation from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th.
“They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers headline Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday night (22nd May).
