Ray Davies Recruits Bruce, Bon Jovi For Kinks Covers
New star studded album due later this year
Ray Davies is to once more delve into his former band’s back catalogue for an album of reimagined Kinks classics with a host of guest stars.
Rolling Stone reports that Davies has already signed up Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi to sing on the forthcoming album, while he will also work with Lucinda Williams and the Killers.
Bruce and Ray tackle 1981’s ‘Better Things’ from the Give The People What They Want album, and Jon Bon Jovi has re-recorded ‘Celluloid Heroes’.
Davies has also revealed that he hopes to recruit Metallica for the album – as it was them that inspired the record.
At the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversary celebrations last year Davies joined the band onstage to perform ‘All Day and All of the Night’ and ‘You Really Got Me,’ and it appears that this was the reason behind the new record.
Davies also revealed to NJ.com that a Kinks reunion is still on the cards now that his brother Dave Davies has recovered from his serious health problems, revealing that "Mick Avory and I are going through lots of tapes that we recorded with Dave, and we’re sifting through the archives. We’ll see if he wants to get involved again. It’s in the works. It’s really up to Dave.”
