Ray Davies Honoured With Own Day In Portland
Ray Davies Day took place in Oregon yesterday
Oregon Live reports that local Kinks fan Gregarious T. Cline, in conjunction with the mayor's office, Davies' performance in Portland yesterday coincided with the first official Ray Davies Day.
"I just found out about it," Davies says. "I'm very flattered. Like Shakespeare said, 'Every dog has his day.'"Â
As part of the celebration, Davies was scheduled to appear at the Hollywood Theater for the screening of "Return to Waterloo" at 3 p.m. Sunday before his show at the Aladdin. Cline's Kinks cover band, The Young Eduardians, also performed at Holocene after Davies' set at the Aladdin.
