Ray Davies Collaboration Album Taking Shape
The stars out in force for former Kinks man
Former Kink Ray Davies has revealed a little more about his forthcoming collaborations album.
The as yet untitled record is due before the end of the year, and Davies has spent much of the last 12 months collecting contributions from famous friends.
Ray has recently recorded with Amy Macdonald (http://www.amymacdonald.co.uk/), Paloma Faith, Mumford & Sons,singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams, Spoon and Frank Black, while he also recorded with the late Alex Chilton of Big Star earlier this year.
Other tracks are likely to include a version of "Better Things” with Bruce Springsteen, "Celluloid Heroes” with Bon Jovi and – according to a blog post by Smashing Pumpkins producer Kerry Brown – a new take on "Destroyer” with Billy Corgan.
The record won’t feature a collaborations with The Killers, as had previously been reported, and it’s not clear whether the songs will be made up entirely of Kinks covers or whether there will be Davies solo material or otherwise included.
