Rare McCartney Album To Be Released
First solo work to be reissued in June
The Examiner reports that the rare soundtrack album - recorded in 1966 while McCartney was still a Beatle - will be reissued on 26 June and that it will be the first time since the 60s that the reissue will be the first historically accurate and proper release of the music, which has, up till now, been released with added music not directly connected with the original soundtrack.
The music for the film was written by Paul McCartney, performed by session musicians and released in 1966 on Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the U.S. The soundtrack project, which was recorded at CTS Studios, Bayswater, London, marked an early solo effort by McCartney away from the Beatles.
The new single-disc release is taken from the original mono master tapes. The CD will feature sleeve notes by Chip Madinger, author of "Eight Arms To Hold You" and the forthcoming "Lennonology" series. The new CD will also include one bonus track: a previously unreleased stereo mix of "A Theme From 'The Family Way', the b-side of the U.K. and U.S. single by the Tudor Minstrels.
It's worth noting that the album has been reissued in the past but never in its original form. The most recent version was in 2003, but the album was expanded with variations on the songs by Canadian guitarist Carl Aubut.
