Rare Hendrix Footage Sells For $10k
Four reels of 16mm film used to be owned by Hendrix manager Chas Chandler
Music News reports that after a 10 day auction four never-before-seen 16mm color film reels of Jimi Hendrix were sold to an undisclosed buyer on eBay for $10,000.
The seller says that he acquired the films directly from Hendrix's former manager Chas Chandler who had kept the film in mint condition for 20 years.
The reels contain close-ups and clips from three different show during 1969 and 1970. The fourth reel contains unreleased footage from Monterey Pop in 1967. The seller said in the description the fourth reel was Chandler's prize possession because it was Hendrix's "first appearance in a major film."
