Ramones To Receive Grammy
Punk band to get their first ever Grammy Award next February
The Ramones are to receive a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.
The influential punk rockers will be honoured with the award at an event in Los Angeles on 12 February, a day before the 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony is held.
Tommy Ramone is the only surviving member of the original line-up after Joey died from lymphatic cancer in 2001, Dee Dee from a drug overdose in 2002, and Johnny from prostate cancer in 2004.
The band never won a Grammy Award during their careers.
Other recipients at the ceremony will be Julie Andrews, Dolly Parton, jazz drummer Roy Haynes, the Juilliard String Quartet, the Kingston Trio and 101-year-old gospel singer George Beverly Shea.
