Radio station apologises for playing filthy Steel Panther song during daytime

A South African radio station has issued an apology after an unedited version of Steel Panther’s filthy 2014 song ‘Gloryhole’ during the daytime.

We don’t need to go into specifics about what ‘Gloryhole’ is about, but, as you can probably guess from the title, it’s not exactly family friendly.

Unfortunately for South African station LM Radio, the song was accidentally played in its lurid entirety at 2pm on Sunday (16th October).

Issuing a (now-deleted) statement to Facebook, LM Radio CEO Lyndon Johnstone apologised and explained to listeners exactly what went wrong.

"On behalf of LM Radio. I want to apologise unreservedly for the song Glory Hole by Steel Panthers (sic) that was played just after 2pm yesterday (Sunday),” Lyndon wrote.

“This song, together with others from Steel Panthers, was inadvertently backed up onto our Server following the cyber-attack on our systems earlier this year.

“When an Hour is short-scheduled, the system automatically includes songs to fill the hour. Glory Hole was unfortunately the song picked by the system.

“We have immediately deleted ALL Steel Panther songs from our Servers. I again apologise for this and assure you that the content of that song does not resonate with who we are as a radio station and as individuals.”

Steel Panther themselves shared the Facebook post, and wrote: ‘They say, "We're sorry."

We say, "You're welcome."’

Continuing to poke fun at LM Radio, the comedy glam metallers also marked themselves safe from ‘Steel Panther hacking my radio station.’

Last month Steel Panther unveiled Spyder as their new permanent bassist. He replaced Lexxi Foxx who permanently quit Steel Panther after 21 years in July 2021.
