Nordoff Robbins have announced that classic rock legends Status Quo are to be honoured with the Sony Ericsson Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards Lunch, which takes place Friday 1 July at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

Status Quo said "We've supported Nordoff Robbins for some time. The work they do, helping people through music, giving them hope, is a really amazing thing.

"We are proud and honoured to be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Silver Clef Lunch. To be receiving this Award from an organisation who have been transforming lives through music for over 50 years makes this an even greater honour."

David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins said, "As one of the most successful and iconic British rock acts of all time, with a career spanning over four decades, I can think of no band more deserving of the Lifetime achievement Award than Status Quo."

The annual Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards Lunch, which began in 1975, is now the jewel in the charity's fundraising crown and a highlight of the UK music industry's calendar. Sponsored by O2 for the past nine years, and now in its 36th year, the event has raised over £8 million for Nordoff Robbins since its inception. Last year's winners included Muse, JLS and Dizzee Rascal and honourees in previous years include The Who, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Sting, Take That, Kylie Minogue and many more.
