Queensryche Vs Queensriche

Geoff Tate, former frontman of Queensryche, has been granted judicial permission to front his own band, under the original name, until the case is settled. The singer announced in early September that he was working on a "second Queensryche lineup" which would include an upcoming tour and a new musical direction. 

Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira has dismissed injunctions by both Tate and his former band, currently composed of guitarist Michael Wilton, drummer Scott Rockenfield and bassist Eddie Jackson, from use of the name. Both parties have apologised to fans for any confusion, as each have the right to play using the name until the trial, which is set for November 18, 2013. 

Geoff Tate, along with his wife Susan, the group's former manager, were ousted from their respective positions by the other members, who cited dubious business dealings for the latter along with violent behavior and creative obstruction against the former. The Tates have hit back, saying "blind greed” is the simple reason behind the firing.

The band informed Tate of the decision before their show in Brazil back in April.

The Tates now seek sole rights to the Queensryche name, along with additional compensation.
