Queen Sign New Deal / Prep Reissue

Band leave EMI after 40 years

Queen have ended a 40 year relationship with record label EMI and have signed with Universal Music Group ahead of the reissue of their back catalogue next year.

Billboard reports that the band have inked a deal with Universal to remaster, repackage and reissue their back catalogue as part of the band’s 40th anniversary celebrations next year.

Each of the albums will be expanded with extra material, with the first five albums due in March.

"We are very excited, after all this time, to be embarking on a new phase of our career -- with a new record company, with new ideas, and new dreams," said Queen guitarist Brian May.

2011 will also see a new comprehensive BBC documentary and the production of a new Hollywood biopic of Freddie Mercury starring Sacha Baren Cohen.
