Queen remember Freddie Mercury on the 25th anniversary of his death
Today (24th November) marks the 25th anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s untimely death at the age of 45.
Remembering their legendary singer, Queen have shared an image of Freddie across their social channels this morning along with the caption: “Freddie Mercury: 1946 - 1991 - Lover Of Life, Singer Of Songs.”
Taking to Instagram to pay tribute to his band mate and friend, Brian May simply wrote: ‘Remembering Freddie today.”
He shared a recent image of himself performing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ live with Freddie projected onto screens in the backdrop.
In homage to Freddie, Roger Taylor uploaded a live performance of his poignant 1994 track ‘Old Friends’, which has lyrics including, “Sleep in peace old friend, for me you'll never die / The best thing I can say, after all this time, is / You were a real friend, of mine.”

Planet Rock will pay tribute to Freddie with a special one-hour show this coming Sunday (27th November) at 7pm called Remembering Freddie Mercury. We’ve also put together a gallery of Freddie’s life in photos, which you can check out below.
Earlier this month, Roger Taylor exclusively hinted to Planet Rock that there may be some new Queen music on the way.
While discussing Queen’s previous output, Roger told Liz Barnes: “If we do anything in future, I’d like it to be something new. I don’t know how new it would sound but I think if Brian and I could come up with a song or two, which we felt fitted (we’d release it).”
Pushed about the likelihood of this coming into fruition, Roger added: “It’s quite possible. We’re really enjoying (performing live). We’ve just come back from the Far East, well about a month ago now, which was phenomenal.
“It’s great to know there’s still a demand (for Queen’s music) and we do love performing with Adam Lambert who’s an incredible singer and a lovely man. A camp Elvis!”
