Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody wins big at Golden Globe Awards 2019
Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody won two coveted gongs at the 76th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California last night (6th January).
The film took home two of the biggest honours on the night; ‘Best Motion Picture – Drama’ and Rami Malek scooped the ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama’ award for his portrayal of the late-great Freddie Mercury.
During his acceptance speech, Rami Malek thanked both Brian May and Roger Taylor, who both attended The Beverly Hilton ceremony.
Saying he was “beyond moved” to get the award, 37-year-old Malek said: "To you, Brian May, to you, Roger Taylor, for ensuring that authenticity and inclusivity exist in the music and in the world and in all of us.”
Dedicating the honour to Freddie Mercury, he added: “Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man. This is for and because of you, gorgeous.”

Despite receiving lukewarm reviews from critics, Bohemian Rhapsody has proved to be a box office smash and has grossed more than £560million around the globe against a budget of £44million.
The film’s original director Bryan Singer was fired from the film due to “unreliable behaviour” amidst reports he had clashed with Malek on set. Malek didn’t thank Singer during his acceptance speech.
Rami Malek will now be among the favourites to win Best Actor at The Oscars on Sunday 24th February.
Last week it was announced that the upcoming home release of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody will feature a full recreation of the band’s fabled Live Aid performance.
Every song and move from Queen’s historic set at Wembley Stadium in July 1985 was replicated for the Bohemian Rhapsody film, however only part of it made the final cut of the cinematic release.
Out digitally on 16th February and on Blu-ray, DVD & 4K Ultra HD on 4th March, the home release of Bohemian Rhapsody will boast an extended 22-minute sequence of Live Aid.
