Queen Fans Bid To Get Freddie Another Number 1

Campaign starts to celebrate Freddie\'s birthday next week

An ardent Queen fan named James Murden has started a campaign to get the band to number 1 in the UK singles charts on 5 September to celebrate what would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday.

It's 20 years since Freddie sadly passed away, and the band are also celebrating their 40th Anniversary with a series of events and reissues so it's a fairly landmark year.

James told Music-news.com "I know I'm just 1 fan but if we all muddle together and download the single next week, this could really happen, it's great to have such a good response already, there are a lot of passionate Freddie fans out there"

The campaign, which is on Twitter and Facebook, says that while the number 1 would be a suitable birthday present for one of the greatest rock singers of all time, the money raised would also benefit the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

If you want to help out then all you need to do is wait until Monday and then go online and buy 'I Want To Break Free' from an official digital music retailer (iTunes, 7Digital, Amazon etc).
