Queen + Adam Lambert release lockdown version 'You Are The Champions' for charity
All proceeds go to World Health Organisation
As more and more people around the world are coming together virtually, during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, Queen + Adam Lambert have decided to record a special version of Queen's classic, 'We Are The Champions'.
After having a virtual jam a few weeks ago from their homes in the UK and Los Angeles, Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, and singer Adam Lambert were asked to make the song available.
Now, with the release of this re-worked song, all funds raised will go to the World Health Organization (WHO) COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The fund provides, 'assistance to health care workers across the world fighting the pandemic with all the challenges and risks they face on a daily basis.'
Speaking about the song, Brian May said, "It seems to me we should dedicate this one to all the front-line soldiers fighting for Humanity against the insurgent coronavirus. Just like our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents who fought for us in two world wars, those brave warriors in the front line are our new CHAMPIONS."

Roger Taylor continued, 'As a father with a daughter in the front line, I am ultra aware of the vital work they are doing daily to save us and our society. Their bravery and sacrifice must not be prejudiced by anything less than a one hundred per cent effort by our governments to protect them. They are precious to us all and they are truly our champions."
Adam Lambert added, "It is with the deepest gratitude to all those on the frontline all over the world that we dedicate our performance. Thank you for keeping us safe, we are in awe of your bravery and strength."
'We Are The Champions' was the first song Adam Lambert performed with band at the May 2009 American Idol finale.
Queen + Adam Lambert’s 'You Are The Champions' is now available to buy and stream online.
This new song comes just a few weeks after Queen + Adam Lambert were forced to reschedule their 27 date UK and European tour from 2020 to 2021.
