Prog Award Winners Announced

Rick Wakeman and Genesis win lifetime achievement awards

The inaugural celebration of Prog took place in Kew Gardens, London last night with many of the world's biggest prog stars on hand to pick up awards.

Rick Wakeman won the Prog God Award and said of his award: "I've always believed that these days there is hardly a band or musician anywhere who haven't used some element of prog in their music.

"It's all about freedom of expression, which in my case is often in seven different time signatures! I am genuinely very, very proud to get this award."

Meanwhile Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford of Genesis picked up the Lifetime Achievement award on behalf of the rest of the band. 

There were also wins for Rush, Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson, Pink Floyd and Carl Palmer.
