Last updated 23rd Apr 2020
Earlier this month on Easter Saturday (11th April), Planet Rock hosted our inaugural Lockdown Sessions where we brought live music direct to you from the homes of some of your favourite rock artists.
Made with the help of our good friends at Audio Content Fund, The Lockdown Sessions mini festival boasted stellar live performances from Black Star Riders’ Ricky Warwick, Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger from Halestorm, Samantha Fish, Planet Rock’s very own Toby Jepson, Kris Barras, King Kings’s Alan Nimmo and a brilliant collaboration between all four members of A Thousand Horses.
All the sessions during the three-hour music marathon were recorded live on the night and broadcast exclusively on Planet Rock.
For those of you who want to relive Planet Rock’s Lockdown Sessions, we can now bring you video footage of the performances. Check them out in all their glory below:
Halestorm:
Kicking things off, here is Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger’s powerful and poignant performance of their 2015 single ‘I Am The Fire’ and a rousing rendition of ‘Heart Of Novocaine’ from their latest studio album ‘Vicious’.
Kris Barras:
Blues rock powerhouse Kris Barras of Kris Barras Band fame recorded an epic 26-minute solo acoustic set on the night, that opened with his 2016 single ‘Rock n’ Roll Running Through My Veins’ plus ‘What You Get’, ‘Propane’, ‘Rain’ and the closing ‘Hail Mary’. Kris also treated us to a phenomenal cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Simple Man’.
Toby Jepson:
Planet Rock’s very own Toby Jepson recorded his Lockdown Session from his home in Somerset and opened with a Little Angels double header of ‘Young Gods’ and ‘Kickin’ Up Dust’, before taking us up to more recent times with Wayward Sons’ ‘Ghost’, ‘Joke’s On You’ and a rare live version of ‘Fade Away’. The set culminated in style with ‘Until The End’.
Ricky Warwick:
Black Star Riders and Thin Lizzy frontman Ricky Warwick also joined his from his home in California. Taking us back to the early 1990s, here’s Ricky performing ‘Free N’ Easy’ by his former band, Glaswegian hard rockers The Almighty.
Samantha Fish:
Phenomenally talented blues sensation Samantha Fish also joined us from the other side of the pond and opened with ‘Watch It Die’ and ‘Bulletproof’ from her critically lauded recent album ‘Kill Or Be Kind’. Other highlights included ‘No Angels’, a sublime ‘Need You More’ and closer ‘Crow Jane’.
A Thousand Horses:
All performing at their respective homes, Zach Brown, Michael Hobby, Graham DeLoach and Bill Satcher from A Thousand Horses opened with their feel-good anthem ‘Livin’ My Best Life’. Keeping things highly apt for these turbulent times, they then launched into boozy anthem ‘Drinking Song’ before playing ‘Preachin' to the Choir’ and ‘My Time’s Comin’.
