Planet Rock launches charity Rockstock t-shirt
Tell 2020 where to go!
We can all agree that in the grand scheme of things, 2020 has been a bad year. From the tragic human toll, to the loss of jobs, venues and live music, it's safe to say that this is a year that everyone wants to see the back of.
With this in mind, here at Planet Rock we thought we'd try to, in some small way, turn the negative into something positive.
4-6th December 2020 was meant to be the eighth incarnation of Planet Rockstock, our yearly festival in Porthcawl, near Bridgend, South Wales, where Planet Rock listeners come from all corners of the UK to watch great bands in a communal celebration of the music we all love.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've had to postpone Rockstock until 2021, but we thought we might be able to mark the occasion nonetheless and help the local community that have so kindly hosted us all these years.
Rock Off 2020!
We're proud to announce that we are releasing a special 'Rock Off 2020' charity t-shirt that will tell this year where to go, as well as help to raise money for two brilliant charities!

The profits from all sales of the t-shirt will be split 50/50 between Bridgend Foodbank and The Trussell Trust, both of whom help children and adults in the local area where we hold Rockstock every year.
Bridgend Foodbank provides nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They work with a range of local agencies, including Citizen's Advice, children's centres and health visitors who meet people at risk of going hungry. Bridgend Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by The Trussell Trust. Find out how you can them, here.
The Trussell Trust is a charity that supports a network of over 1,200 foodbanks across the UK. They provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, while also campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the future. Find out how you can help them, here.
Some sobering statistics from The Trussell Trust:
- Food banks gave out 2,600 parcels to children on average every day in the first six months of the pandemic in the UK - and we know this is just the tip of the iceberg.
- Food banks across the UK saw a shocking 47% increase in need during the crisis, building a record need experienced during the same period last year
- Between April and September, food banks in our network provided more than 1.2 million of emergency food parcels to people in crisis – of these, over 470,000 went to children.
The Trussell Trust are calling on everyone to help change the system and begin a Hunger Free Future.
This year we’ve all already made incredible changes to the way we live, work and look after each other. And if we take action together now, we can start to build a future where we can all afford the essentials.
They are asking everyone to join their campaign today and be part of a growing movement to create a #HungerFreeFuture.
