Planet Rock Launch Special Drum Show
Al Murray will host 'Sticks n' Drums n' Rock n' Roll' from 1 February.
The comedian, a drummer himself, will provide the ultimate guide to the drums on Planet Rock in this five week series. Each week, he will introduce living rock legends of the skins, who will tell you exactly how they made the legendary beats we all know and love; including David Bowie’s drummer Woody Woodmansey on ‘Ziggy Stardust’ and working with one of rock’s master creators.
Def Leppard’s Rick Allen reveals the key to his unique technique and sound, which has helped the band shift a staggering 80 million records, while Deep Purple’s Ian Paice lets loose on more than 40 years of drumming for one of rock’s longest serving bands.
The series launches with Mike Portnoy, formerly of the pioneering Dream Theater, who sheds light on where rock meets a whole new world – the mystical realm of prog.
Hear 'Sticks n' Drums n' Rock n' Roll' on Planet Rock every Sunday, from 1 February, at 19:00, or hear it again each Thursday at 20:00.
