Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason escapes unhurt after crashing his £3million McLaren supercar
Pink Floyd drummer and motor racing aficionado Nick Mason has escaped injury after crashing his £3million McLaren F1 GTR supercar on a race track.
The septuagenarian rocker lost control of his beloved vehicle on a demonstration lap at Goodwood Circuit in West Sussex during the 75th annual Members’ Meeting weekend on Sunday (19th March).
As captured by TV cameras, the ultra-rare red and yellow McLaren car skidded off the track at St Mary’s corner and after pirouetting on the grass it collided with the crash barrier.
Although the vehicle sustained costly damage to the front, fortunately Nick emerged unscathed and was able to walk away from the car. He even made light of it on Twitter this morning, sharing a clip of the crash along with the caption 'Whoops!'.

The damaged McLaren car owned by Nick is the tenth of just 28 F1 GTR chassis that were manufactured from scratch between 1995 and 1997. It was first used at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans and was later purchased and converted to street-legal specifications by Nick.
Despite its £3million price tag, the McLaren isn’t the most expensive car Nick owns. According to driving.co.uk, amongst his hoard of Maseratis, Aston Martins, Bugattis and Porsches is a Ferrari 250 GTO worth a reported £30million.
