Pink Floyd Sign New Record Deal

Band and EMI put troubles behind them to sign new deal

Pink Floyd have finally settled their long running battle with their record label, EMI, by signing a new record deal.

The band’s 18 month court battle with EMI ended last month when the court of appeals threw out EMI’s case, siding with Pink Floyd in a dispute over the downloading of individual tracks rather than full albums.

However, under the new deal individual track downloads will now be permitted.

"All legal disputes between the band and the company have been settled as a result of this new deal," said EMI.

In a statement the label said it would "help the band reach new and existing fans through their incredible body of work".

In October, Floyd’ Nick Mason told BBC News it was "not actually a big punch up" with the record company, but rather "about getting a third party to adjudicate".
