Pink Floyd exhibition extends opening hours for final two weeks

Since opening in May, over 373,000 people have visited the exhibition and to cope with the insatiable demand ahead of its closure on Sunday 15th October, organisers have now extended open hours for the final two weeks.

Their Mortal Remains will open for 42 consecutive hours from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October and on selected days it will be welcoming visitors from 9am until 10pm where possible.

In total, an extra 4,500 tickets will be available over the next 14 days giving fans their final chance to experience the exhibition.

The extensive and mightily impression exhibition is being held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band’s seminal debut album ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’ and inaugural single ‘Arnold Layne’.

Described as an ‘immersive, multi-sensory and theatrical journey’ through multiple aspects of the band’s career, the exhibition chronicles the music, iconic visuals and staging of the band.

Surviving Pink Floyd members Nick Mason, Roger Waters and David Gilmour were all involved in the exhibition, which boasts hundreds of Pink Floyd items including some that have been “long-held in storage facilities, studios and personal collections for over 40 years, before being re-discovered.”

Some of the many zeniths include the imposing six-metre high metallic Division Bell heads, a rotating 3D ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ prism, the colossal replica Battersea Power station and a teacher inflatable based on Gerald Scarfe’s famous sketches straddling over the top of The Wall.

The exhibition reaches an emphatic finale with Pink Floyd’s performance of ‘Comfortably Numb’ at Live 8 in 2005 projected onto four giant screens.
