Phoenix Lake land coveted slot at Bloodstock

Following hundreds of entries from incredible bands, we’re pleased to reveal that Phoenix Lake have won Planet Rock’s competition to play Bloodstock Open Air next month.

The Nottingham melodic metallers will open The Sophie Lancaster Stage on Sunday 13th August 2023, and they appear on a weekend line-up that boasts Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah, In Flames, Helloween, Ugly Kid Joe, Sepultura and many more.

“This is an absolute dream come true, a surreal moment that surpasses all expectations,” Phoenix Lake said in a statement. “As avid attendees of Bloodstock Festival for countless years, the chance to open the prestigious Sophie stage leaves us breathless.

‘Originally formed as 'Descending Angels', in 2018 guitarists Ash Wilson & Zak Smith recruited Lana Phillis as vocalist. Re-forging themselves as ‘Phoenix Lake’, the band finalised their female-fronted melodic metal outfit with drummer Joe Synnott. With comparison to Paramore, Parkway Drive & Evanescence, ‘Phoenix Lake’ deliver tastes of melodic metal & metalcore with alluring vocals & beautiful harmonies.

‘Debut EP ‘Beyond The Flames’, written before the shadow of the COVID19 pandemic, has undergone several iterations. Re-sculpted & re-recorded, each song has been painstakingly crafted & released as a polished yet powerful track listing that is fast-gathering acclaim alongside their explosive live performances.
