Phoenix Festival To Rise Again
Hop Farm organiser outlines plans to resurrect defunct festival
NME reports that the Phoenix Festival - which collapsed in 1998 due to poor ticket sales - may be coming back in 2012 when Glastonbury is taking a year off.
The festival, which took place between 1993-1997 at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon, saw bands such as Faith No More, The Black Crowes, the Sex Pistols and David Bowie headline until 1998 when ticket sales dropped and the festival was canned.
However, promoter Vince Power - who runs the Hop Farm Festival and worked at Mean Fiddler when they ran Phoenix - announced in his programme notes at Hop Farm that he plans to resurrect the festival next summer.
Power wrote: "For those of you who remember the Phoenix Festival, it's my intention to resurrect this festival next year as Glastonbury is taking a break."
