Pete Townshend Suffering From Writer's Block

The Who guitarist having trouble writing music as good as his classics

In a new interview he told the BBC: "Today I just wish that when I walk down to my studio I could sit at my piano and be able to organize my thoughts, pull out one of the sheets of lyrics I have got in front of me, finish the song, record it and put it out on an album.

"But it's not how life is today. I don't know why. When I stray into familiar territory I feel uneasy. I feel I am not breaking new ground. And that’s bad. I am expected to break new ground."

The Who are expected to tour again in 2012, although there's some doubt over Townshend's hearing which has been troublesome over the past two years.

Townshend is also due to release his memoirs at some point in the next year or so. Back in May rumours circulated that his literary agent was trying to sell the book, entitled Who He? but there's not been much information about the book since.
