Pearl Jam Half Way Through New Album

Expect their tenth studio album early in 2012

The band have been recording their new record in LA with regular producer Brendan O'Brien, rather than in their hometown of Seattle where most of their records have been made.

The album is roughly halfway completed and bassist Jeff Ament tells Rolling Stone that working in LA has helped them put together the album a little quicker than normal.

"We made the bulk of our records in Seattle, so it's just great to get out of Seattle for me. Everybody leaves all their stuff at home and you just go down for 12 days and it's all you do."

He also says that having to work on their new film Twenty, the soundtrack for the film and their new book of the same name has helped them focus on getting the new record done.

"It's been really important for us that in the middle of all this, we got together and recorded a bunch of songs. It sort of gave us a breath to go, 'Okay, we can go back and get ready for the show and book and movie and all that stuff'."

The film premiered worldwide last night and the soundtrack is released this week. The film will be released on DVD and Blu Ray in a couple of months.
